Thomas asks…
how do i get rid of nasty cold sores at home?
i have a very important date tomorrow night that i have been waiting for for a couple of weeks and all of a sudden these things appear! and i desperately need to get rid of these horrifying cold sores!!! i have tried so many things and i was wondering if any of you had some input that could help heal them by tomorrow night so i dont embarrass myself. THANK YOU SOO MUCH

admin answers:
Hi Thomas, I will try and help you here. Unless you already have the medication H-Cold Sores, it is not likely that you can get rid of them in a day.
This is the absolute best treatment for cold sores and is a 100% natural remedy, no prescription needed but it is recommended by Doctors. I understand it was first intended for genital herpes, but cold sores are caused by the same family of viruses, and this is the only thing I’ve found to stop colds sores in their tracks.
None of the other treatments come close to the effectiveness of this, not the ointment Zovirax, and not Abreva or anything else.
My own doctor told me about it, and after using it only a couple of times I hardly ever get a cold sore any more, and I was having several attacks a year.
On the rare occasions that I do get one, it is gone almost immediately when I take the medication – in about a day. The only snag is that it’s only available on the internet, but nowadays that means you can have it next day. Here are a couple of informative links:

Michael asks…
How to get rid of a persistent cold sore?
A while ago I got a nasty cold sore on the middle of my lip, and it took about 2 weeks to fully heal. Now, it’s been gone for a only a couple of days, and this morning I woke up with a new one right below where the old one used to be. I really don’t want to go through another two weeks of that.
My dad told me to put alcohol on it but I heard that’s bad for it. Does anyone know a product or at home method to get rid of it for good?

admin answers:
Michael, Don’t put alcohol on it. Go see your Dr. So you can get some antiviral meds for it or try the advice given above.

James asks…
How can I get rid of a cold sore?
Im mostly looking for stuff I can use at home instead of over the counter stuff, but Im open to suggestions. You think if I did something it would be gone by tuesaday?

admin answers:
James, let me explain a bit about cold sores:
A cold sore is a fluid-filled blister which usually appears at the edge of the lips. Cold sores are caused by a herpes simplex virus infection.
While anyone can be infected by herpes virus, not everyone will show symptoms.
The primary infection can cause symptoms like other viral infections including tiredness, headache, fever, and swollen lymph nodes in the neck.
Because oral herpes is so common, it is diagnosed primarily by symptoms. It can be diagnosed and treated by the family doctor, dermatologists (doctors who specialize in skin diseases) and infectious disease specialists. Laboratory tests may be performed to look for the virus.
Treatment
There is no cure for herpes virus infections. There are antiviral drugs available that have some effect on lessening the symptoms and decreasing the length of herpes outbreaks.
H-Cold Sores is choice of drug for herpes It can be applied directly to sores as an ointment. H-Cold Sores is effective in treating both the primary infection and recurrent outbreaks.
During an outbreak of cold sores, salty foods, citrus foods (oranges etc.), and other foods that irritate the sores should be avoided. Wash the sores once or twice a day with warm, soapy water and pat gently to dry.
Over-the-counter lip products that contain the chemical phenol (such as Blistex Medicated Lip Ointment) and numbing ointments (Anbesol) help to relieve cold sores. A bandage may be placed over the sores to protect them and prevent spreading the virus to other sites on the lips or face. Acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil) may be taken if necessary to reduce pain and fever.
Alternative treatment
Vitamin and mineral supplements and diet may have an effect on the recurrence and duration of cold sores. In general, cold sore sufferers should eat a healthy diet of unprocessed foods such as vegetables, fruits, and whole grains. Alcohol, caffeine, and sugar should be avoided.
Foods rich in arginine that should be avoided are chocolate, peanuts, almonds, and other nuts and seeds.
Vitamin C and bioflavonoids (a substance in fruits that helps the body to absorb and use vitamin C) have been shown to reduce the duration of a cold sore outbreak and reduce the number of sores.
The vitamin B complex includes important vitamins that support the nervous system where viruses can hide out. Here is that link again to H-Cold Sores

Richard asks…
How do you get rid of a cold sore fast?
O my god, I woke up with it… the horrible bright red burning mound right above my upper lip- so freaking gross. Are there any home remedies, or anything at all that might speed the going away process before I go back to work in 2 days and have to deal face to face with the public??
O the horror.

admin answers:
U can put some toothpaste on it….it will help to dry it and go away faster…but also you can follow the advice given earlier and keep H-Cold Sores in your medicine cabinet ready for future outbreaks.

Ruth asks…
Help getting rid of a scar from a cold sore?
Someone told me to put lemon juice on the cold sore so I did and the sore healed quickly but it left this really dark brown scar.
Vitamin E hasn’t worked for me. Is there a faster remedy other then Mederma that I could do at home? I don’t want to get laser surgery and it hasn’t lightened when I left it alone.
How effective is lemon juice and honey?
Covering up with makeup has worked but I would really like it to be gone. Help?

admin answers:
So it is completely healed? If so, there is no way to get rid of the scar, because that scar represents a point of infection, just like you can’t get rid of herpes, you can’t get rid of the scar because the scar is part of the herpes infection. Sorry if it sounds confusing, but all you can do is cover it up.
